Other Special Events and Projects

In addition to the work on the lake and trails and planned/guided hikes, the Shaver Lake Volunteers assist with a variety of annual events.  Some of these events are community activities that attract visitors to Shaver Lake, such as the car show and the July fireworks show on the lake.  The volunteers usually assist in traffic control, patrol, organizing entertainment and activities, and public assistance.  They’ve assisted with outdoor events, such as the Tour’d Granite (Mountain bike race), "Sierra Challenge" adventure race, Dog Sled Races and the 10K run.

They also help with educational endeavourers, such as the Fire Safe Festival, which is put on by the local Fire Safe Council for the public; and Science Day, a day designed to educate elementary school children within the community about our local natural resources.  Shaver Lake Volunteers have also volunteered on a variety of commercials, television and movie projects that have taken place in the Shaver area during the past few years. If any of this interests you come on out and Join the Volunteers !!
